Birdwatching
Birdwatching in Extremadura is a special experience. In this part of Spain the presence of some 350 species of birds has been confirmed. 30% of the total area of Extremadura is designated as a protected area for birds and nature, this means that 70 % of Las Villuercas is protected! It has to be said that Las Villuercas, where also the Geopark Villuercas- Ibores- Jara is situated, is a real bird paradise.

We are specialized in the areas of Las Villuercas: rocks, streams, forests, dehesas; La Serena and Belén: steppes; Arrocampo: lake and pasture; Moheda Alta: dehesa, plains, paddy fields. However, we also are very familiar with the best locations and the hotspots in Monfragüe, Talaván area and the steppes of Santa Marta de Magasca. We will of course be happy to advise you on the best seasonal choice from these options. You are comfortably transported in our SUV's, so, if road conditions are poor there is no impediment. |

We made for you a list of all bird species (except
rarities) in the area of Las Villuercas and we believe that there is
good chance that we will see characteristic species.
Our offer:
One-day guided birdwatching excursions: Individually
or with up to 4 people. 2 sessions (morning and afternoon). Subject to
availability possible throughout the year (except July and
August). We will take your personal wishes into consideration and propose the best route for your excursion.
Included in the excursion is transportation from one collecting point; coffee, tea and a lunch or dinner package.
From November until the end of February each Wednesday and Friday we offer special Crane watching excursions.
Three-day guided birdwatching excursions: Individually or with up to 4 persons, 2 sessions per day (morning and afternoon).
Start Dates: every Tuesday in January, March, April, May, June, October, November, December.
Each day starts with a briefing, where we will discuss the daily program.
We offer full board (2 overnights, 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches or
lunch packages, 2 dinners) in the excellent Casa Rural "Puerta Solana"
in Solana which is situated on the edge of a beautiful mountainous and dehesa area with Holm and Cork oaks.
Alternatively you can choose to stay in the two-persons self-catering apartment "La Coraja" in Aldeacentenera. Ideally situated to visit nearby Trujillo, for example. If you choose this option you prepare your own food etc.
Extension per day is possible.
Our excursions are exclusive and private for you or your group. This means that we tailor the excursion program according to your wishes and our programs are not standard, nor do we take other participants in order to make up a group. It means that we spend plenty of time for observation or for taking photographs.
Should you have other wishes for your overnight stay in the Geopark, please let us know. You can hire on our own grounds a comfortable 4-6 persons bungalow with fantastic views, furthermore we have excellent contacts with the Casa Rural "Finca la Sierra" in Berzocana, the famous Parador Hotel "Zurbarán", the cheap city Hostal "Alba Taruta" and with the well-shaded campsite "las Villuercas", all located in Guadalupe. We can make a reservation for you, at no extra charge of our service.
