Orchids and Plants
Extremadura ranks among the top regions in Europe for its abundance of flora and with good reason. The dehesas, steppes, rivers and mountains of Las Villuercas host a superb range of flora that is unique in the world. If wildflowers are what you interested in, then you have to come to Las Villuercas.
Notable plants are the Sicilian orchid, Champagne orchid, Naked-man orchid the Gum cistus, Pink foxglove, Narrow-leaved lupine, Spanish lupine, and much more. Orchids are flowering from mid-February until mid-July, but the best months to see these species are April and May. In autumn you can enjoy plants as well and we will also concentrate then on trees (colours, fruits) and mushrooms.
During our excursions we reserve adequate time to give you the possibility to photograph these beautiful plants.

Our Offer:

One-day guided excursions orchids and plants: Individually or with up to 4 people.
2 sessions, morning/afternoon or afternoon/evening. Subject to availability all dates possible (except July and August). We visit a selection of habitats that offer the best opportunities to see the plants, depending on the season, and your interest, of course.

Includes: transportation from designated meeting point to location(s), coffee, tea, lunch.


Three-day guided excursions orchids and plants: Individually or with up to 4 people.
2 sessions per day morning/afternoon or afternoon/evening. Start dates: every Thursday in March, April, May, June and every second and fourth Thursday in October, November and December.
We visit, taking your interests and wishes into account, the most important regions and habitats in the rock mountains, the dehesas and the riverbeds looking for the plants of that particular season.

Includes: transportation from Casa Rural (Country House) or apartment to the different locations. We offer full board (2 overnights, 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches or lunch packages, 2 dinners) in the excellent Casa Rural "Puerta Solana" in Solana which is situated on the edge of a beautiful mountainous area and dehesa with Holm and Cork oaks.
Alternatively you can also choose to stay in the two-persons self-catering apartment "La Coraja" in Aldeacentenera. This location is ideally situated for example for a visit to Trujillo. If you choose this lodging option you prepare your own food etc.

Extension per day is possible.

Our excursions are exclusive and private for you or your group. This means that we tailor the excursion program according to your wishes and our programs are not standard, nor do we take other participants in order to make up a group. It means that we spend plenty of time for observation or for taking photographs.

Should you have other wishes for your overnight stay in the Geopark Villuercas- Ibores- Jara, please let us know. You can hire on our own grounds a comfortable 4-6 persons bungalow with asthonishing views, furthermore we have excellent contacts with the Casa Rural "Finca la Sierra" in Berzocana, the famous Parador Hotel "Zurbarán", the cheap city Hostal "Alba Taruta" and the well-shaded campsite "las Villuercas", all situated in Guadalupe. We can make a reservation for you, at no extra charge for our service.
