Raptors and vultures, and in winter also Cranes, can be seen in large numbers in the Geopark Villuercas Ibores Jara. It is an ultimate experience to see the birds so close in their habitats and to be able to observe and photograph them. Our hides are situated in carefully selected areas, so that you have very quiet backgrounds on your pictures, and the animals are used to be fed on those locations. Despite of our careful preparations, it can happen that you have to exercise patience a little before the birds come in.

What we offer:

Bird Photography from a fixed or mobile hide:

Number of persons: we offer one-persons hides; on the location for Vultures and Raptors there are two fixed hides close to each other situated, on the Crane-location we have one fixed hide. Besides that, we have  two mobile hides available, those can be used stand-alone or in combination.

Time of year: from mid-September till mid-June. Cranes from the end of October till the end of Februari.

Hours: We bring you one hour before sunrise to the hide, ending whenever you want, calling our mobile number. Within half an hour we will pick you up. To avoid undesirable disturbance for the birds from the direction of the hide, it is not allowed to leave the hide without being accompanied by us.

Includes:  transportation between a pre-determined collection point and the location of the hide, bait.

Species you may see: naturally depending on the season and the location, but for the hides on the location for Vultures and Raptors you may expect: Black Vulture, Griffon Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Red and Black Kite, Hoopoe, Blue Magpie, Woodchat Shrike and various Passerines.

Notes:

  • If you are not very experienced in photography from a hide, or prefer to have company, we will coach you from a hide nearby.
  • Please bring your own food and drinks.
  • If you have some ideas you would like to try or should you want to photograph a specific specie, please let us know. Within the regulations, we will help you to find a solution.  Find inspiration from the photo's on this page.

Should wish to stay overnight stay in the Geopark, please let us know. You can hire on our own grounds a comfortable 4 persons bungalow at moderate costs, furthermore we have excellent contacts with a range of accommodation possibilities nearby. We can make a reservation for you, at no extra charge for our service.
